Dear ladies and gentlemen,
In the datasheet of the MP171, page 1, a diode D2 feeds the voltage into C3 and the feedback pin. There are no specifications / recommendations for this diode. What are the minimal requirements for this diode? Which parameters are important?
Thank you and best regards, Tobias

Hi Tobias,

The voltage stress on diode D2 can be very high when FET turns on. We would recommend to use diodes rated 1000V. The P/N of the diode we used in our reference design is SRGC10MH.

Thanks,
Kevin

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, no such part can be found at Digikey, Mouser or Octopart.
I take the one from the eval board which is UFM15PL-TP. I think it would be good to specify this diode in the datasheet.
Best regards, Tobias

By the way, are we really talking about the same diode? I'm not talking about D1 which is connected to the chip's gate. I mean the diode, connected to the output voltage. Thank you.

Tobias,

I was referring to D2 of MP171 spec page1. We would suggest to use high voltage diode above 600V for both D1 and D2.

600V STTH1R06A diode for referance:

Thanks,

Kevin
